Enterprise Development Grants

The Enterprise Development Grants programme offers New Zealand businesses and entrepreneurs funding support to help them improve their business and carry out new international development initiatives.

There are two parts to the Enterprise Development Grants programme:

1.  Enterprise Development Grant - Capability Building (EDG-CB)

If you are an entrepreneur, start-up or a small established business, and you are seeking help to grow and develop your business, you may qualify for funding assistance through the Capability Building grant. This can cover up to half the costs of professional services for you to:

• Employ a business mentor
• Undertake advanced management or technology-based training
• Engage an advisory board for a period of up to three years (businesses only)
• Undertake some strategic market development activities, including market research and planning
• Undertake strategic business development activities, including, for example, business planning and financial viability planning
• Undertake a feasibility study
• Undertake certification or engage professional services for systems development and improvements
• Undertake e-commerce strategies.

2.  Enterprise Development Grant - Market Development (EDG-MD)

If you are a registered New Zealand business planning significant activity to develop your international markets, you may qualify for multi-year funding assistance through the Market Development grant. This can cover up to half the costs for:

• Market visits
• In-market representation
• Advertising and promotion
• Marketing materials
• Trade fairs and events
• Market research.
